This lovely evening finds hopeful gardeners gathering for orientation on their new urban farming experience.

Dowling Community Garden started as a Victory Garden back in 1943. The Victory Garden program was huge with 130,000 gardeners in the Rain Cities alone, and by 1944 about 40% of fresh vegetables in Minnesota came from Victory Gardens. By the 1950s the garden was moved to it’s present location on the Dowling School grounds.
